NO! There are currently no licensing requirements to practice appraising and there is Legislation to protect the public from unqualified appraisers. It is the consumer's obligation to ask questions to determine if the appraiser they hire is qualified to appraise items for the stated purpose of the appraisel. Many people who hold themselves out to be appraisers may be familiar with the local auction scene, but may not be current with Regional or International Markets.
